Caterpillar is now offering customers the option to upfit their mini excavators with aftermarket grade control technology. These technologies are the same available on the larger Next Generation line including Advanced 2D and Cat Grade with 3D. Both options are available through Cat and Sitech dealer networks.

Options:

  1. Cat Grade with Advanced 2D - real-time bucket tip and elevation guidance on machine's touchscreen display. Create and dig to basic site designs directly from the cab. Installation requires hardware, sensors, and a dedicated monitor.
  2. Cat Grade with 3D - GPS positioning allows for more complex site designs. Monitor displays real-time positioning throughout digging motion and protects from over and undercutting. In addition to the Advanced 2D hardware, GNSS receivers and antennas are required.

The only limitation of the system is that it does not support boom swing available on Cat's mini excavators. Otherwise, the system works the same as on the full size machines.
